Room and Power

10 May 2022

‘Room and Power’ is the next exciting heritage project which uses the art of textiles to tell aspects of Islington Mill’s 200 year history. From cotton to raincoats, steam engines to M3 Industries, ‘Room and Power’ has researched the history of occupation and collaboration at the mill over two centuries and produced original textile work inspired by this rich history.

‘Room and Power’ has been created by textile designers and artists Jessie Stringer-Fewtrill and Natalie Linney, both members of Salford Makers, a collective of artists and designers based at Islington Mill, and co-founders of Salford Slow Fashion CIC.

Everyone is welcome to join us at our free launch event where you can view the beautiful new works, meet the artists, and learn more about their fascinating research and techniques, as well our other heritage projects.

The launch takes place on the evening of Thursday May the 12th from 6pm at Unit 4, Regent Trading Estate on Oldfield Road behind Islington Mill.

There will be delicious vegan food for everyone for free on the night, supplied by the mighty Deli Lama.

The exhibition will then be in place until Sun 15th May. Check these links below for opening times and access information.
