ISLINGTON MILL // NEWS // 15.6.22

15 June 2022

Fancy a COCKTAIL? Our artists over at Unit 4 of Regent Trading Estate (right beside the Mill) are preparing to host a 2 day programme of open studios, fantastic art, free food (from the mighty Deli Lama), music and performance, beginning Friday 17th at 5pm and continuing all the following day from 10am. The breadth and diversity of creative practice within this studio collective promises a feast of exciting experiences. Meet the artists, see new work, have coffee and cake and enjoy Salford creativity in action. Oh and cocktails too probably!

… and since you’re in the neighbourhood, Saturday 18 June also sees the launch of the third Salford Open at Salford Art Museum & Gallery, showcasing a spectrum of art by artists who live, work or were born in Salford. All for free and not to be missed.

Seems the 18th is a big day for creativity as Art Assembly ignites Manchester with a one-day festival of art, brought to you by Art Fund with some of Manchester’s leading arts organisations, celebrating and advocating art and creativity for all ages. Sally Gilford of Salford Makers joins the artists on board. Check out the website and follow the hashtag #artassembly this Saturday. Everyone’s invited. Enjoy!

Nuff art? Not yet! A Modest Show is a collateral programme to British Art Show 9, featuring exhibitions, new artworks, dinners, interventions, performance and more from now till the end of summer. Mill artist Jane Lawson will be representing in collab with Steve Lawson in the second iteration of the Detox / Delish show at Castlefield Gallery which takes place 28 June. Booking essential for this one. Jane’s work can also be seen in the Fungal Behaviour show which kicks off in August but don’t we will remind you again nearer the time, promise…
