We are on the lookout for a fun and creative way to collect cash donations for the Islington Mill fundraising project during this year’s Sounds From The Other City festival.
The Mill is fundraising to release crucial financial pledges from Arts Council England and Salford Council that will allow us to not only urgently fix our collapsed roof but will also massively expand our available studio space by refurbing the empty 5th and 6th floors, and will install an elevator to make our building truly dynamic and fully accessible.
We are searching for an artist or artists who will devise an ingenious creative intervention to transport around the entire festival site and gather cash donations from festival-goers.
The intervention you devise should be easily mobile so it can move between the various venues, interactive in a cool way, arresting and photogenic, and able to part people with cash donations in a fun way…!
Could you dress up as the Mill with a hole in your roof?
Are you a couple of wild drag queens on a tandem wielding a glitzy bucket?
Can you build a giant dragon that eats money?
You should of course be trustworthy, confident of asking for donations, happy to make a scene, able to grab the mic at a venue and make a fuss about our fundraising, eager to remind everyone that Islington Mill is the birthplace of this awesome award-winning festival, and able and willing to make a great big social media fuss in the lead up and on the day of SFTOC.
We are offering a fee of £150 for your work, 4 free tickets to this year and next year’s SFTOC festival, plus other Islington Mill VIP treats we can rustle up.
Deadline for applications is April 19th so a tight turnaround.
