Scottee

I am a multi-award winning self taught artist and broadcaster. I cut my teeth in subsidised art projects on my estate after being expelled from school. I learnt everything I know whilst on the job.

I am the host and co-creator of cult podcast After The Tone – a weekly podcast about being mental, fragility and shame. I am also a regular contributor on BBC Radio 4 — most recently as the presenter of Taxi Drivers, a series looking at the relationship artists have with assistants and assistance. I have been a co-host on BBC’s Saturday night entertainment show Loose Ends for almost a decade and I have been a regular contributor to programs like Short Cuts, Front Row and The Verb.

As a director, writer and performer my stage work has received critical acclaim in its pursuit to discuss poverty, class, queerness and fat with UK audiences. I am also a co-Director of Scottee & Friends Ltd — a collective of performers, producers and participants, an organisation I cofounded in 2017.

I am the founder of the Working Class Artist Group, a covert support group for working class artists working in the theatre industry.
