The concept is simple and recycling is key. Booze and Burn started from humble beginnings and homemade Christmas presents and gradually grew from there.
Sophie takes a well enjoyed bottle or can of booze and turns it into a scented soy candle, giving the opportunity for a new lease of life and for new memories to be made.
All products are made from recycled, repurposed glass (and cans). Bottles are collected from local bars (and family and friends), then they’re de-labelled, cut, grinded and sanded, before being hand poured with scented soy wax which gives a long and creamy burn (twice as long as paraffin candles and much kinder to the environment).
The staple is the Booze and Burn wine bottle candle but they’re also made in spirit and prosecco bottles, mini beers and craft beer cans.
Recycling is at the heart of the process and packaging and products are kept plastic free and environmentally friendly wherever possible.
Sophie also now runs workshops in and around Manchester, predominantly for candle making but also for flower arranging too.
The candles can be found online, at NQ Makers Market (second Sunday or the month) and Alty Market (last weekend of the month), or in shops including Ancoats General Store, Stretford Food Hall, GK Gallery and Tea Room and NQ Gallery.
