UNDER is a site specific project by current artist in residence Tiago Cadete for the Islington Mill gallery. The bricks used in the installation were found in the Mill’s space as well as the objects that are smashed. UNDER looks like a cemetery of shrapnels where the bricks work as small tombstones without years of birth or death – an abstract life. Who walks through this topography can feel like in front of a war memorial or a monument to the Mill itself that resists to the growing number of constructions in the surroundings. Little by little, the building becomes more singular and characteristic of the red bricks architecture that constitutes the industrial landscape of Manchester

Under é um site specific para a galeria do Islington Mill onde os tijolos utilizados na instalação são do próprio edifício bem como os objectos que estão esmagados por baixo. Under assemelha-se a um cemitério de estilhaços onde os tijolos funcionam como pequenas lages sem identificação de ano de nascença ou morte, uma vida abstrata que agora se apresenta. Quem caminha por entre esta tipografia pode ter a sensação de estar perante um memorial de guerra ou um monumento ao próprio edifício do Islington Mill que resiste á construção desenfreada que o rodeia, tornando-o singular e característico da arquitectura de tijolos vermelhos da revolução industrial da cidade de Manchester.
