The Value of Art?

Artists from Islington Mill Art Academy invite you to join them for a day of exploring art’s value in our everyday lives.

How can we use art and creativity to live better?

WORKSHOP 1

10.30am–12.00pm

Hanaa Cara & Niki Colclough lead a practical workshop that will encourage us to think about how we interact with the world and how we can bring more creativity into our everyday activities. You will be guided through new ways of looking at art, mindfulness, walking and making as an expression of feeling.

12.30–1pm: Everyone is welcome to bring a packed lunch to share with the group.

1–1.30pm: Speed networking with a difference! Talk about what you value and share new ideas with others.

WORKSHOP 2

1.30pm–3.30pm

Artist film maker Donna Wood and art historian Sara Riccardi (Art Across) will guide you through making your own video art, using iPads and digital cameras to film everyday objects, yourself or each other. Discover how to use history of art as a vehicle to express yourself, explore ideas and to tell your own stories.

As inspiration for your video art we will look at the techniques that painters have used through the ages to tell their stories, by looking at examples of still life, portraiture and history painting. You will learn practical film making skills. All equipment provided.

You are welcome to come to one or both of the workshops, please reserve a ticket for each.

This event is for 18+. Thank you.
