ROJAK is a queer party celebrating LGBTQI people of colour.
We’re back for our third and final party of the year, and have the incredible Clarisa Kimskii joining us all the way from New York. Clarisa has 20+ years experience in techno subculture’s underground. Through a palpable blend of psychedelic and driving techno, Clarisa’s approach to the genre is deeply idiosyncratic – an assemblage of both timeless and modern grooves.
She is a resident at Brooklyn based party MERGE, and regularly plays at iconic institutions and parties across the city such as BASEMENT, Nowadays, Wrecked and The Bunker. Recent festival appearances include Whole Festival (Germany), Draaimolen (Netherlands), The Great Beyond (Minnesota), Organik Festival (Taiwan), Honcho Campout (Pittsburgh), Sustain-Release (New York), Rural (Japan), Volnost (South Korea).
As a producer, Clarisa has contributed to a handful of respected labels (Monday Off, Dusk & Haze, Mysteries of the Deep, etc.) within her sonic niche, but it’s through her own label L.A.G where the ethos of her sound truly takes form – a detailed variation of propulsive and atmospheric soundscapes.
This will be her first time playing in the UK in over 2 years! Join us to give her a huge Manchester welcome on the dancefloor.
We also have blu.dream from the Leeds-based Sable Studios crew joining us. They do incredible work in lowering barriers to creative media for young (especially Black) people in the city whether that be through providing access to equipment, free workshops, training + mentorship programmes or just access to space.
Residents supporting are KURLS, Kuriboh, and STNLY.
