From A to C; This Being B is a continuation and expansion of the exhibition Cabedal that took place at Plataforma Revólver, Lisbon, 2012, organised by Tiago Duarte and Ian Rawlinson and it emerged as a challenge and continued dialogue between the artistic director at Plataforma Revólver, Victor Pinto da Fonseca and artist Tiago Duarte.
This exhibition presents nine UK based artist seven of which were involved in Cabedal plus four artists selected by Victor Pinto da Fonseca from his immediate art ecology in the Portuguese capital who are variously engaged in charging the surface of their works with labour, and how this investment in work can be understood as discourse on productivity.

And in the One of One shop….
One of One will be open for a late night shopping event to coincide with the next exhibition opening at Caustic Coastal called “From A to C; this being B”
Featuring an excellent selection of local, national and international artists who have made one off original artworks and products that can only be found in our shop. We have selected participants who work across the fields of graphics, painting, sculpture, ceramics, interiors, illustration, furniture, jewellery, craft and music.
Each piece in the shop has been paired with an object that the curators feel enhances the piece in some way and is a nod to the world of image and product styling. Objects include fake hair, foam blocks, a tiny computer and pompoms.

One Of One is a cross disciplinary platform that functions as both an exhibition and shop environment. It is a space where art and design meet & collaborate; where designers can experiment with new materials, forms and techniques with a freedom from functionality and without having to consider production on a large scale. It is also an opportunity for artists to experiment with making “useful” products for consumption as well as editions that don’t have the pressure of being identical and where variations, accidents and individuality are encouraged.
