All We Have: IMAA end of year show

Earlier this year we announced that Islington Mill Art Academy would mark its 10 year anniversary with a year-long residency inside Islington Mill Gallery.

The 2019 IMAA Collective are 13 self-elected learners who self-created a year-long learning experience for themselves, including formulating their own curriculum, selecting visiting artists, establishing goals and methods for work and decision-making, as well as devising frameworks for peer-evaluation, facilitation and individual coaching.

Throughout the year the group have shown work in the Gallery and around Islington Mill, including at Sounds From The Other City and Manifest 2019, as well as at outside exhibition spaces including recent group show ‘Six Feet Deep’ at Victoria Baths. They have trained in Upwording and worked with organisations such as the Whitworth, Manchester International Festival, Venice Agendas and MARC the printers.

As the residency draws to a close, IMAA have been making work across the whole of the Islington Mill site and this latest show will exhibit work in these multiple spaces.

The exhibition runs from 18 to 21 October at the following times:

18 Oct: Exhibition opening, 6–9pm

19/20/21 Oct: Exhibition open, 12–5pm

Also on the 19 October the artists will be on site for a critique session from 3–5pm, in which the public is welcome to view the work and have conversations with the artists.

In The Face of Adversity‘ by Andrew Hicklin will form part of this wider show.
