STAUNCH – Return to Grey Gardens official afterparty / Manchester

STAUNCH

The official afterparty for the opening night and UK Premiere of Return to Grey Gardens at Contact Theatre, this evening will be hosted by the fabulous PEACHES CHRIST (cult hostess of San Francisco’s wildy acclaimed Midnight Mass series) and Seattle’s own narcoleptic starlet JINKX MONSOON (winner, RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5).

With support from Manchester’s Cha Cha Boudoir family of glamour toads, gender terrorists and femme assassins, we’ll be taking inspiration from fashion icon Lil’ Edie’s make-do-and-mend sensibilities. No cash? No problem!

The evening’s theme is thrift, jumble, poundstore, dress in distressed or bin-bag couture! It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it!

Music, live performance, special guests, dancing, raffle, drunk people, gaffa tape giddiness, unidentifiable bruises and costume swaps GALORE!

Performers on the night include:
PEACHES CHRIST
JINKX MONSOON
THE ULTRA VIOLETS
CHEDDAR GORGEOUS
ANNA PHYLACTIC
More to be announced.

DJ duties through the night from BROOKS

Brooks came to the attention of electronic music fans with early releases on Mantis Recordings and legendary uk house soundsystem DiY. His debut album, You Me & Us, blended latent Chicago House and Detroit Techno influences, dark bleeps and deep nocturnal beat shifts with twisted pop melodies and sinister lyrical narratives. Second album, Red Tape, was on Matthew Herbert’s Soundslike Records, finding inspiration in Weimar cabaret, Lord Byron’s dirty escapades in a villa with narcotics, darkroom sex and the music of industrial machinery. Collaborations include Antony Hegarty and Dani Siciliano; remixing everyone from The Human League to The Scissor Sisters and The Soft Pink Truth.
