Social Art Network Manchester

This is a meet up for anyone interested in social art in Greater Manchester and has emerged from discussions at The Social Art Summit. This is the second Social Art Network event in Manchester – all welcome!

The Social Art Summit was an artist-led review of socially engaged arts practice in the UK, held in Sheffield in November 2018, and convened by Social Art Network. Practitioners from around the country came to share practice and discuss ideas, and the Social Art Summit explored what it means to be making art through social engagement right now. Post-summit, groups have started meeting across the country.

Aimed at artists, activists, community groups, curators, students, academics, funders and wider sectors working in the social realm, the Social Art Network aims to develop agency in the field of art and social engagement and test the ground for launching a Social Art Biennale in 2020. We are working towards a ‘think-tank’ event to take forward learning from the Summit. In this meet up we will be mapping what organisations, artists, projects are already happening in the city to feed into the ‘think tank’ event. This event will take place at Tate Exchange on 25th April.

If you are interested in being part of the discussion leading up to the event or shaping what the network could look like and be used for in Manchester come along!

This meeting is held in Unit 4 lon Regent Trading Estate beside Islington Mill in Salford. There is one small step to get into the front door. Please get in touch with Anna at info@annahortoncremin.com with any access needs or questions about the meet-up.
