Shadow Sistxrs Fight Club

This event will be held on site at Caustic Coastal, Unit 2 Regents Trading Estate, Oldfield Rd M5 4DE

Shadow Sistxrs Fight Club is a physical and meta-physical self defence class for self identifying women, non binary people and queer, trans, intersex and queer people of colour.

We will explore a holistic approach to self defence using Brazilian Jujitsu techniques, meditation and medicinal/magical herbalism.

Shadow Sistxrs Fight Club have been running weekly self defence classes in London for a year, and is facilitated by Ayesha Tan Jones and Monique Etienne.

Ayesha Tan Jones is an artist and musician based in London. Ayesha’s work is a spiritual practice that seeks to fuse activism and art to present an alternative, queer, optimistic dystopia. They work through ritual, meditating through craft, and building forms from their dreams. Ayesha approaches activism through art, creating diverse, eco-conscious narratives that aim to connect, enthral and induce audiences to think more sustainably and ethnically. In 2016/17 Ayesha won the Yorkshire Sculpture park graduate residency award. They will be showing new work later this month in Signs, part of the Beacons series curated by Rebecca Halliwell-Sutton

Monique Etienne has been practicing mixed martial arts since she was 8 years old. She now focusses her energy on BJJ, and translating these techniques to a wider audience to teach self defence in an accessible way.
