Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga that was first cited by Vamana Rishi in the ancient text, Yoga Korunta. It has then been passed down through the years through the lineage of guru to student, including Rama Mohan Brahmachari, Sri T. Krishnamacharya, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and R. Sharath.
The practice of Ashtanga Yoga involves the following ingredients: Asana (postures), Ujjai Pranayama (breathing technique), Vinyasa (synchronisation of breath and movement), Drishti (gaze point for the eyes) and Bandhas (internal energy locks)
The practice of yoga helps to bring the body and mind back to its natural balance, increasing awareness and drawing us closer to our true nature.
The practice of ashtanga yoga- allows the mind to be focussed and calm, this in turn ignites moments of clarity within, which can aid the creative process and take practitioners on a journey of self discovery.
