HELP SAVE ISLINGTON MILL

Islington Mill has a partially collapsed roof and expansive 5th and 6th floors which have been in an unusable condition for decades. These upper storeys have been periodically exposed to the weather, rendering them structurally unsound which poses a serious threat to the sustainability of our building.

With our eye on the future, we have commissioned an architectural plan which includes a new roof and a renovation strategy to transform the upper floors, bringing 6000 square foot of space into permanent use for studio and work space, with an external elevator to make everything fully accessible.

Arts Council England and Salford Council recognise our extraordinary achievements to date, and our current desperate condition. Between them they have agreed to donate the bulk of funds needed for this extensive programme of repair.

In order to release their pledges we need to raise something close to £700,000.

We are doing this through a range of fundraising events, art sales, donations and applications to trusts, grants and foundations for the arts.

The impact of the new accessible work spaces on the Mill, on Ordsall, on Salford, on Greater Manchester, and on the North West region will be huge. It’s worth thinking about what life would be like without Islington Mill. Over twenty years, as many as 1700 artists and makers from around the world have been through the Mill, PLUS thousands of audiences.

But we’ve come as far as we can and we need your help.

Please support us however you are able and donate what you can here.
